International Service Immersion Program

Updated: Oct 24, 2018

The International Service Immersion Program, commonly known as ISIP, is a service-learning and social justice opportunity sponsored by Campus Ministry that occurs over Mardi Gras Break. This year, a selected group of students and faculty are traveling to the Dominican Republic, Belize (Belize City & Punta Gorda) and Ecuador.

ISIP is a one-year commitment, for trip groups have weekly meetings up until they travel in-country to efficiently prepare them for the trip. These meetings consist of reflections and discussions about the countries that the groups are traveling to, including the injustices that exist within those countries.

Fundraising is an important aspect for ISIP because students essentially pay half of the cost that is required to go on the trip. ISIP sponsors events, such as Christmas caroling, bake sales, mum sales and other events throughout the year.

ISIP involves an application process, which happens early in the fall semester. Students who complete the application will complete individual interviews before ISIP placements are announced. For more info on ISIP, email Colleen Lee: cflee@shc.edu, or visit the Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/SHCISIP/.
